Yes, teeth will try to move back to their original position once the braces have been removed so it is crucial that you wear the retainers that you will be provided with. In nearly all cases we also fit a bonded retainer which is fixed permanently to the back of your lower front 6 teeth.
You will need to avoid all hard or chewy foods for the duration of your treatment. You should also avoid sugary foods, fizzy drinks and snacking between meals. Normal food and diet is generally comfortable after the first few weeks.
It is very important to visit your own dentist and hygienist as usual throughout treatment as they still need to monitor the health of your teeth and gums.
Fixed braces are generally adjusted every 6 to 8 weeks and it is very important that you attend each appointment.
